• 01.01.18 Bible to be read over Parliament in 2018

The Bible is to be read over Parliament in 2018.

Reverend Pat Allerton the Vicar of St Peter's Notting Hill writes, "A few years ago, whilst praying, I saw a picture in my mind's eye of a giant sword being planted in the ground on Parliament Square. It was huge, and towered over the Houses of Parliament!

"I knew exactly what it meant. It was the Sword of the Spirit, the word of God. I immediately sensed that The Lord was calling for His word, the Bible, to be read out loud over our Government and Nation.

"‘Truth To Power’ is about seeing that vision fulfilled.

"It’s about seeing the local church rise up and engage practically and prophetically with the realities, both political and spiritual, that are shaping the life our country. In Ephesians, Paul tells us that:

“Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
    — Ephesisans 6:12

"This is about continuing that struggle, with the weapons of prayer and the word.

"So our vision is that every day in 2018, at whatever time suits them, people will gather on Parliament Square to declare the scriptures for that day from 'The One Year Bible', about 20 minutes’ worth, before coming together to pray. All done in half an hour!

"But we can’t do it alone, we need your help!"

So if you’d like to get involved, then simply book your date online with some friends, your small group, or your church.

Or better still, why not sponsor a day each month, eg. the 30th, and really get stuck in! We’d love to encourage you not to be fewer than two or three, simply because Jesus said that where that number gather, He’ll be there in the midst of them, and we’d love His help on this!

    But it’s up to you.
